After 22 years, Susanne Linke returns to her first full-length solo, "Schritte verfolgen" (Retracing Steps), which she now shares with three other female dancers. Together they retrace the different phases of Linke’s life in an autobiographical piece about childhood, youth and maturity. The clear-cut stage design (a white room with table) by visual artist VA Wölfl, lighting and a collage of music ranging from classical to African tribal to railway sounds provide an apposite setting. The end appears at the very beginning: Linke virtually floats across the stage as the Grim Reaper. But what follows contains liberation, passion and the desire to "be", which Linke and her performers show in virtuoso fashion with small gestures and great steps, combining to form a biography of the body.

Susanne Linke trained with Mary Wigman, studied at the Folkwang Hochschule in Essen and danced in the Folkwang Studio with Pina Bausch, where she took over as director after creating her own first works. She set up her first company in the early 90s, directed the dance theatre of the Bremen Theater and was a founding member of the Choreografisches Zentrum Essen. She returned to work as a freelance choreographer in 2001 and was awarded the "Deutscher Tanzpreis" (German Dance Award) in 2007.
